Dr. Edie K. Benner, PT, PhD, OCS

Edie has been a board certified orthopaedic clinical specialist since 1994.  She received her bachelors degree in physical therapy from the University of Miami, Florida in 1983 and  received her masters degree in exercise physiology from Kent State University in 1988.  On October 14, 2005, she successfully defended her dissertation entitled "The Theory of Planned Behavior and Physical Activity Among Physical Therapists", to complete 9 years of work toward her Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Health Education and Promotion from Kent State University. 

     In 1995, she received the "Ohio Physical Therapist of the Year Award".  Edie has lectured on many orthopaedic, sports and occupational health topics.  She is adjunct faculty member at Cleveland State University.  She has co-authored a text entitled Soft Tissue Mobilization and has authored or abstracted numerous articles on computer ergonomics, design of the computer work station and other orthopaedic topics. 

     Past responsibilities have included developing and running a CARF accreditied Work Hardening facility.  Edie currently serves on the Ohio Physical Therapy Association Exective Board as Ohio Research Comittee Co-Chair and is delegate to the APTA House of Delegates.     

     Edie was the athletic training supervisor at Crestwood for 11 years.  She has coached and participated in a variety of sports including baseball, volleyball, and basketball.  Edie, her husband Jeff and their son Broc, have been life long residents of Mantua.
