The second annual
Headwaters Adventure Race was held on Saturday, July 10. The
weather was perfect, there were about 219 people who completed the race, either
by themselves or as part of a team and it seemed like a great time was had by
all!
The course started at Mantua's Village Park with a 2 mile out and
back walk/run on the Headwaters Trail. It then left the park heading east
through 10 miles of rolling rural country roads to camp Hi Canoe
Livery. The race finished with a 5 mile single kayak or team canoe
back to Mantua's Village Park.
Last year the last few racers got caught in a torrential downpour, but this year
the weather held out. After being treated to some post race snacks
and the awards celebration, racers were able to head over to the 2nd
Annual Art on the Hill celebration, where they could enjoy or purchase works of
art from many local artisans, or grab a bite to eat from any one of many local
food vendors.
What a great way to spend a summer saturday!
You should consider joining us next year- It really was a great way to
experience Portage County. For more information go to the Portage County
